![]() Disaster Relief MinistriesIn any given year, thousands of people are adversely affected by natural disasters such as tornados, hurricanes, mudslides, avalanches, fires, and earthquakes. Better forecasting techniques have made most such disasters less deadly than they were a century ago, but material losses and interruptions to daily life are just as pronounced as they were for our great grandparents. Like much of what we plan to do, Mark 16:15 Ministries is looking to the future when it comes to disaster relief ministries. Our efforts wil include both such immediate needs as meals, drinking water, sanitation, laundry, and temporary power; and long term needs such as helping to repair and rebuild homes, places of business, and churches. We eventually plan to grow this ministry to be able to respond globally with supplies, medical care, temporary facilities, and knowledgable workers. Like our social services ministries, our disaster relief ministry will not include enforced church or chapel attendance. As Salvation Army founder William Booth asked, What is the use of preaching the Gospel to men whose whole attention is concentrated upon a mad, desperate struggle to keep themselves alive? Experience tells us that reaching out is often more effective than speaking out, because people have often heard the words, but have never seen them in action. © 2022 Mark 16:15 Ministries, Inc. |
